Loose Parts Atelier Tour

Friday evening we will be inviting a limited number of educators to tour our Materials Initiative Atelier space to explore loose parts and learn about their use to support the creation of wondrous learning experiences for young children.

This tour will explore the value and possibilities of loose parts and design elements of offering interesting invitations through engagement in rich thinking and hands on experiences.

  • Collaborate in Communities of Practice to consider multiple perspectives and deepen your approaches to reflective teaching.
  • Consider environment design possibilities  in shared classrooms, tear down programs and permanent spaces.
  •  Observe learning and developmental theory in children’s daily pursuits, including sensory motor play, schema theory, complex play skills, and the development of identity and social interactions.
  • Study various teacher research projects to find meaningful approaches and questions for your own practice.
  •  Envision your own inquiry questions, and think about the possible discoveries that you can make with children, families and your teaching team.
  • Consider structures and protocols to support reflective practices and meaning making of children’s ideas, understandings and curiosities
