Twenty-five years ago today was the first day of my journey with, at the time, Kawartha Child Care Services, now Compass Early Learning & Care.
What came next I would never have dreamed. The opportunities and possibilities became endless. During the past 25 years I have worked in many communities, built strong relationships, cultivated new skills and tested new theories. I have had the joy of working with so many amazing children, families and community members. I have been mentored by the best in the field and worked side by side with the most dedicated, passionate early childhood educators, program staff and home child care providers. I have experienced many changes; some have made me laugh, some made me cry and others have made me wonder. I have embraced each experience and believe they have made me who I am today. I will never be able to adequately thank those who have and continue to believe in me, challenge me and provide support every day. I believe each child, parent, co-worker and friend has guided my journey as an Early Childhood Educator.
For those wondering what it would be like to be an Early Childhood Educator, I say jump in with both feet, work hard and believe in yourself. You will be embarking on a journey with endless opportunities to mentor, support and bring the joy of childhood to the lives of children during their most crucial and informative years.
I once was given a Dr. Seuss book, “Oh the Places You Will Go”. The day I read this book I dreamed of working with children but I never expected this amazing adventure.
THANK YOU to all for supporting my dream.
